I don’t wax anymore for two reasons. First, I don’t want to waste a babysitter on a waxing appointment. The second, more important reason, is that it hurts way too much!! These are the products that have helped me reduce razor burn and get a better, closer shave.
1. I started using Eucerin Calming Body Wash in place of shaving cream after reading this article with Amy Adams in Allure Magazine. She said “I can’t wax because bad things happen. So I shave. I use Eucerin Calming Body Wash instead of shaving cream, and I don’t get razor burn anymore. It’s not its intended use, but I want to keep talking about it, because I’m afraid they’ll discontinue it.” I too am loving this product! It has totally reduced the amount of razor burn on my skin.
2. I have been using men’s razors for years. I find them to be far superior to any women’s razor I have ever tried. A quality razor allows you to remove the hair in fewer strokes, reducing irritation. I like my Gillette ProGlide Power because it vibrates, allowing for a closer shave.
3. Sometimes I get razor burn along my bikini line. To speed up the recovery process, I apply a 2% BHA exfoliating gel (the same one I use on my face by Paula’s Choice) the day after I shave. BHA (a form of salicylic acid) is made from the same plant as aspirin, so in addition to the exfoliating action, it has anti-inflammatory properties, making it an awesome choice to help with annoying razor burn.
Until next time,
