I’m really excited about today’s post because the questions I get asked the most are always about at home skin care. People always want to know what order to apply their products, what they should use at the very least, and how to take their routine to the next level. This Skin Care Cheat Sheet is the perfect resource to help you put together your own skin care routine.
The routine on the left is a full bells and whistle routine. On the right is what you should be using at the very minimum. Please don’t feel like you need to do everything in the full routine! Most people start out with the minimalist routine and over time add products as needed. Most days I use the minimalist routine with an added serum….I very rarely do the full routine. Once you print it out, keep it in your bathroom to help you remember what order to apply your products.
Now I feel steps two and three in the full routine might be a little controversial for some of you. You may be thinking that these two steps should be swapped and that would be true if you were using a scrub or something that had to be washed off. But I don’t typically recommend using a scrub as an exfoliator (this topic deserves a post of its own!). I personally prefer chemical exfoliators, which generally speaking are formulated as something you would leave on. Which means you would want to tone before you exfoliate.
The last thing I think some of you may have questions about is how my full routine differs from the popular and long Korean routines. The difference is that the Korean routines repeat steps. For example, you would cleanse twice or use multiple serums (sometimes called an essence or an ampoule).
I really hope this helps you! And as always I love to hear from you, so please tell me what you think of it and if you have any questions!!
Hope this helps,
